A walk behind the waterfall, in 60 seconds

A short film from a rainy afternoon, and how to get there without the tour buses.

Some places are better in the rain. This waterfall is one of them: the path is slippery, the light is soft and the crowds stay in the car park.

Getting there

Drive the south coast road from Reykjavik for about two hours. Arrive before nine or after six.

Where to stay

Farm guesthouses along the coast, most with a hot tub and a view of the glacier.

What I would do differently

I would bring waterproof trousers. The spray reaches you long before the path does.
