Everest Base Camp, honestly

Twelve days on foot, the altitude, the costs and whether it is worth it.

The trek to Everest Base Camp is not technical, but it is long and high. The mountains are the reward; the altitude is the price.

Getting there

Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla, one of the shortest runways in the world.

Where to stay

Tea houses along the route, simple and warm.

What I would do differently

I would add two rest days. Altitude does not care about plans.

Prices in this guide are what I paid. They move every season, so use them as a rough guide.
